چکیده

The limb iswidely usedasamodel developmental systemandchanges to gene expression patterns in its signaling centers, notably the zone of polarizing activity (ZPA) and the apical ectodermal ridge (AER), are known to cause limbmalformations andevolutionarydifferences in limb morphology. Although several genes that define these limb signaling centers have been described, the identification of regulatory elements that are active within these centers has been limited. By dissecting mouseE11.5 limbs that fluorescentlymark theZPAorAER, followedby fluorescence-activated cell sorting and low-cell H3K27ac ChIP-seq, we identified thousands of specific signaling-center enhancers. Our ChIP-seq datasets show strong correlation with ZPAand AERexpressed genes, previously characterized functional ZPA and AER enhancers and enrichment for relevant biological terms related to limb development and malformation for the neighboring genes. Using transgenic assays, we show that several of these sequences function as ZPA and AER enhancers. Our results identify novel ZPA and AER enhancers that could be important regulators of genes involved in the establishment of these specialized regions and the patterning of

Association between CD14 Gene Polymorphisms and Cancer Risk: A Meta-Analysis

BACKGROUND Two polymorphisms, -260C/T and -651C/T, in the CD14 gene have been implicated in susceptibility to cancer. However, the results remain inconclusive. This meta-analysis aimed to investigate the association between the two polymorphisms and risk of cancer. METHODS All eligible case-control studies published up to March 2014 were identified by searching PubMed, Web of Science, CNKI an...

Erratum to: SWITCH: Highlighting consensus among medical scientists increases public support for vaccines: evidence from a randomized experiment

Erratum Following the publication of this article [1], it was brought to our attention that Table 2 of the Appendix contains a typographical error. The right column of the table incorrectly reads (N = 216) instead of (N = 206). In addition, Table 3 of the Appendix contains some non-consequential rounding errors for the Mean (S.D.). The corrected table is provided below: The above errors do not ...

Temporal-pattern similarity analysis reveals the beneficial and detrimental effects of context reinstatement on human memory.

A powerful force in human memory is the context in which memories are encoded (Tulving and Thomson, 1973). Several studies suggest that the reinstatement of neural encoding patterns is beneficial for memory retrieval (Manning et al., 2011; Staresina et al., 2012; Jafarpour et al., 2014). However, reinstatement of the original encoding context is not always helpful, for instance, when retrieving...

Bilateral globus pallidus internus deep brain stimulation in Parkinson's disease with periodic limb movement disorder.

Deep brain stimulation for Parkinson's disease is a well-established therapeutic intervention for refractory disease. The main nuclear targets are the subthalamic nucleus and the globus pallidus internus. Periodic limb movements are often an associated condition in patients with Parkinson's disease. Both conditions can respond to dopaminergic agents. The case of a 57-year-old ma...
